The book I am reading is Swordbird by Nancy Yi Fan. Swordbird is a well written book. It takes place at Stone-Run Forest. In the forest there are many tribes. The main two are the Bluewingle Tribe of the bluejays and the Sunrise Tribe of the cardinals. There is chaos between the two tribes. Both blame the other for stealing their offspring eggs and food. The leaders of each tribe decide to go to war. Flame-back the leader of the cardinals is a cunning warrior. He is strong in attack and battle formations. Skylion, the leader of the bluejays is wise and decisive.

Aska, a young female bluejay is flying when she stumbles across a brave and clever robbin named Milton. He is an enslaved worker at Fortress Glooming. He tells her that Turnatt, an evil hawk and his army have been stealing the cardinal and bluejay eggs all along.

It is then when they realize they must team up. The cardinals and bluejays become friends again and will not rest until the blood of Turnatt is spilled and they see the downfall of his fortress, Glooming. Their only hope of seeing peace again is to have Swordbird, the mystical white bird help them. There is only one way to get him and that is with a learsorn gem and a song from the old scripture.

The bluejays and the cardinals only posess the old scripture. The gem has been lost for a very long time. To find out if they stop Turnatt from enslaving the two tribes read Swordbird.

My opinion is that Swordbird is a swell book. I've never read anything like it. It makes me want to keep reading. After each chapter it takes another twist. I can't wait to read the seaquel Swordquest.

My opinion on the book

I think it is a good book considering I usually don't like biographys. This book is very factual and is teaching me stuff I would never have known. I would recomend this book only if you like sports history and would take some time to read it because it is not a quick read.

Now that I am later in the book I can say that it is almost like a time line it starts as a kid and keeps going threw his life like when he was in the majors. Did you know that he was in the army and if not did you know that when a bus driver told him to move he didnt. He did exactly what Rosa Parks did but it was 11 yeas earlier. It went to court and he won. Currently I am readig about his life in the Major leagues.

Summary of the book Keeper

The book Keeper starts off with an interveiw of El Gato. Gato (the cat) grew up in a logging village surrounded by jungle. Like every boy he wanted to be a great soccer player but when he was young he had no skill at all. He then quit soccer and when he thought he shut it down he actually opened it up. When he quit soccer he spent most of his days in the jungle and that's when he stumbled across, the Keeper. The Keeper taught him to be a goalie. Nobody knew who he was, nobody knew he existed, that is, accept for El Gato.

The Keeper soon became his mentor and Gato became a great goalie. Soon he was forced to go work at the logging camp and had to leave behind the Keeper. After work on one Saturday he noticed a soccer game going on and also noticed one team didn't have a goalie. Without thinking, he ran out to the goal and stood there like it was where he belonged. They played the game and won, Gato didnt let in a single shot. He then decided to play every week and that's how he got the name Gato.

One Saturday was different. People were there to spectate him and the other team had brought in a pro to disrupt Gato. He seamed unfazed throughout the game until the very end when the first goal was scored on him, he had finally tasted defeat.

At the end of the day the same spectators from the game came to his house and asked if he was willing to play at pro level. Among the five spectators was a former great from the area. Gato's mom wanted him to do it for the money but his father said "no". His uncle Feliciano then came and noticed the soccer great and being overwhelmed by the situation he started spewing out questions but the final one was this "Do you remember that great shot you pulled on that goalie, Perez?" He answered with a "yes".

He then shot "What was it? Did you fake three defenders?"

He replied " No, actually it was four."

"Oh, you had that goalie thinking you were going right, but then you shot left. It was the best shot I ever saw!", exclaimed uncle Feliciano. "Now, let me ask you this. Do you think Gato would have saved that shot?"

"Yes, actually I think he would have read it."

To find out if Gato's father will sign, read Keeper by Mal Peet.

My opinion on the book Keeper

I thought the book Keeper by Mal Peet was a very good book. After every chapter I never wanted to put it down. It kept me on the edge of my seat every time. Mal Peet uses great descriptive words and has made me want to write like him. For example, “The lightning arced in so close to us I could almost taste the electric serge.”

I would recomend this book to all people even if you arent a fan of sports.

yo what's up.This blog is for all readers. This month I have read the keeper by Mal Peet. I think it is a very good book with many twists. You may think this is all about soccer but it actually has little to do with soccer at all. i think you should read this book and follow el gato on his mysterios encounters with the keeper.
